NRDs Annual Conference - CANCELLED

NRDs Annual Conference - CANCELLED

09/27/2020 to 09/29/2020

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Due to ongoing safety challenges with the pandemic, the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts (NARD) has cancelled their annual conference scheduled for Sept. 28-29, in Kearney.

The business session as well as NARD committee meetings and board meeting will go forward in-person. Social-distancing and directed health measures will be followed to ensure board of directors’ safety.

“The annual event is always a great time to connect with others, exchange ideas and learn about new conservation methods,” said Jim Eschliman, NARD president. “The health and safety of our staff, board members, vendors and partners is our primary concern, and the executive committee has concluded that it is neither safe nor practical to move forward with the conference.”

Traditionally, the conference brings together Natural Resources Districts’ (NRD) employees and others integrally involved in conservation, technology and policymaking. The two-day conference includes multiple workshops, a tradeshow and fundraising events for the NARD Foundation to support natural resources education.

The conference also includes conservation award presentations and inductions into the NRD Hall of Fame. The awards that were to be presented will be postponed and presented at the Legislative Conference in Lincoln Jan. 26-27, 2021.

“I look forward to the time when we can once again gather together,” Eschliman said.

Traditionally, the annual conference brings together more than 350 representatives from Nebraska’s 23 NRDs and our partners to discuss natural resources policy, engage with industry experts, and participate in NARD Foundation events.

NARD Foundation events at last year’s annual conference raised nearly $21,000. While the pandemic is limiting our ability to hold  fundraising events this year, the programs the Foundation supports continue. The Foundation has and will continue to build partnerships and engage young Nebraskans to learn more about natural resources.

The NARD Board and Nebraska’s NRDs remain committed to supporting the Foundation. While we are not requesting sponsorships for Foundation events this year, the Foundation is  actively accepting donations and respectfully requests you consider a donation in lieu of this year’s annual conference events.

In addition to contributing to the next generation of Nebraskans, all donations made to the NARD Foundation will be recognized on the NARD website. The NARD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization – additional details on the NARD website.

Please make checks payable to the NARD Foundation or donate online.
