Summer Intern - Lower Niobrara NRD, Butte

The Lower Niobrara Natural Resources District is accepting applications for a Summer Intern.  This is a paid, temporary, part or full-time position with the Lower Niobrara NRD.  The Summer Intern reports to the Water Resources Coordinator and/or the General Manager.  The position runs from mid-May to early August with working hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The work is mostly, but not exclusively, outdoors.

Examples of Work

  • Collecting water quality samples throughout the District
  • Assist the Water Resources Coordinator when needed
  • Conduct irrigation well flow checks
  • Assist with Information and Education activities
  • Assist other NRD staff when needed
  • Assist with tree plantings
  • Data entry
  • Facilities maintenance

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

  • Ability to establish professional and effective working relationships with co-workers, Board members, community organizations and/or members of a diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear and comprehensive reports and effectively communicate both orally and in writing. 
  • Work is performed in the field and in an office setting.  Physical demands are average.   

Necessary Requirement

  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possession of a valid State of Nebraska driver’s license and a good driving record when operating District vehicles is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.

Compensation

Competitive hourly pay up to 40 hrs. per week. Holidays off.
