General Manager - Nemaha NRD, Tecumseh

The Nemaha NRD is accepting applications for the full-time position of General Manager at its office in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

This is the chief executive officer responsible for overseeing and carrying out the natural resources programs and projects identified by the 21-member, elected board of directors for  the Nemaha NRD's eight-county area of southeast Nebraska. Responsibilities of the NRD include flood and erosion control, water quality and quantity, outdoor recreation, soil conservation, tree, grassland, and wildlife programs. The General Manager is responsible for the annual budget and for supervision of 17 full-time employees. Projects and programs include working with local, state, and federal agencies, landowners, and committees. Occasional overnight travel is required.

A bachelor's degree in natural resources, agriculture, public administration, or a related field is preferred with at least five years' experience in one or more of the following fields: water resources, project management, public administration, employee supervision, and budgeting. Candidates must demonstrate skills in public speaking, communication, leadership, project management, personnel management, budgeting, and organization. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and the ability to delegate and manage multiple priorities is expected.
