Intern Program

Intern Program

Most Natural Resources Districts offer paid internship opportunities that may lead to a full-time position. Interns are introduced to a professional work environment to explore career options.

Traditionally, interns are college students who have an interest in natural resources management and/or agriculture. Students are provided the opportunity to apply their academic studies to on-the-job experience. Work is mostly, but not exclusively, outdoors.

Job duties may include:

  • Collecting groundwater quality samples
  • Assisting with invasive plant control efforts
  • Coordinating GPS data collection and land survey
  • Monitoring wildlife habitat
  • Testing Irrigation system efficiency
  • Sorting, packaging and planting tree seedlings
  • Assisting with educational activities
  • Assisting NRD staff with clerical work and documentation
