Safety Electrical Training – High Voltage & Irrigation Pivot Safety
This training provides NRD staff with important safety knowledge related to high-voltage electrical systems commonly encountered during field work, particularly around irrigation pivots. The Nebraska Rural Electric Association, in partnership with local Public Power Districts, will demonstrate high-voltage electrical hazards and safety considerations associated with power leading up to irrigation pivots.
The Nebraska State Electrical Division will provide a classroom presentation followed by field instruction at a pivot site, focusing on electrical components and safety considerations once electricity enters the pivot system.
The training will include:
- 1 hour classroom presentation and Q&A
- 20–30 minutes travel time to a pivot location
- 1 hour of hands-on, in-field training
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered. Any NRD staff involved in chemigation inspections are strongly encouraged to attend, as the training focuses on recognizing and safely working around high-voltage equipment associated with irrigation pivots.
