North Platte NRD Unveils New Recreational Mapping Application

02/19/2015

The North Platte Natural Resources District (NRD) will be unveiling a new interactive
Recreational Mapping Application. The event will take place at the University of Nebraska Panhandle
Research and Extension Center Auditorium in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on February 26th, 2015, at 7:00pm.

This event will be an opportunity for you to find out more about our fantastic recreational areas.

The Recreational Mapping App contains interactive web maps and 3D videos of recreational areas
within the North Platte NRD. Information about local wildlife, habitats and recreational activities
(hunting, hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, etc.) are highlighted in this application. It is an important
tool for outdoor enthusiasts, tourism officials and others that are interested in protecting natural resources
by promoting them. The app also features many of the conservation groups working within the NRD and
links to their websites.

The app will feature maps from the Platte River Basin Environments, Nebraska Game and Parks
Commission, Scotts Bluff National Monument, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and it will have links
to conservation groups, such as Pheasants Forever and Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory. The app will
also feature to information on wildlife, plant species, habitat, and pictures that the user can access to
identify plants and animals while on the trail.
