GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska – The 2024 Rainwater Basin Joint Venture Informational Seminar is being held on March 14, 2024 (8:30 am to 5:00 pm) at the Ramada by Wyndham in Grand Island, NE.

Registration/Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. with welcoming remarks starting at 9:30 a.m. Rob Lawson, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist, will open the Seminar and Ethan Freese, producer with the Platte Basin Timelapse, will showcase a 26-minute film that discusses the biodiversity of Nebraska’s playa wetlands and the people who are working to conserve and restore wetlands in Nebraska.

Throughout the day there will be presentations from different conservation organizations across Nebraska discussing habitat management on both private and public lands, eastern red cedar removal, carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, GIS projects, and landowner attitudes toward conservation.

There will also be three panel discussions on private lands projects, public lands projects, and nitrate management and groundwater quality.

Andy Bishop, Coordinator of the RWBJV, will cap off the afternoon by taking us into the RWBJV’s future by highlighting the unique opportunities for habitat conservation being forged through new collaborations to achieve bird population goals and objectives.

Attendees will learn from experts in the field about current wildlife conservation and management practices, can network with other landowners and conservation professionals, and stay up to date on conservation efforts in Nebraska.
