Norris Takes Top Spot in Southeast Regional Envirothon

BEATRICE, Nebraska -- High school students tested their knowledge of aquatics, forestry, policy, range, soils, wildlife, and a current environmetal issues during the Southeast Regional Envirothon.

The Norris High School team consisting of Anna Rohrer, Anna Van Brocklin, Heather Riensche, Grace Kohler and Zach Pittman took first place in the Southeast Region. 

In the Southeat Region, 13 teams competed between two sites -- the Nebraska Assoaciation of Resources Districts Office in Lincoln (Feb. 17) and Southeast Community College in Beatrice (March 1).

Envirothon is an environmental education program for high school students that combines classroom learning and outdoor activities. The five-member teams are tested in seven natural resourcs areas including aquatics, forestry, special topics, soils, policy & land use, range and wildlife. 

The Norris team will join 13 other teams from across the state to participate in the Nebraska State Envirothon Competition at Camp Comeca near Cozad April 27, 2022.
