Scholarships are available for elementary students to attend the Summer Orientation About Rivers (SOAR) Camp. SOAR is a nature day camp where kids explore the Platte River and other local natural environments. There are two four-day sessions; both are for grades 3-6 from 8:00 -3:30 every day. Prairie Plains Resource Institute sponsors the event with several organizations, businesses, and foundations. SOAR days will begin and end at the Aurora Middle School. Campers travel by bus to Lake Mary, Gjerloff Prairie, and Bader Park - all along the Platte - as well as historic Farmers’ Valley Cemetery near Stockham. The camp’s afternoon sessions are held at the Middle School. Registration fee for the entire week-long program is $150, or $130 for families who are Prairie Plains members.
