Lower Platte South NRD Board Assists in Pandemic Fight

04/10/2020

LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (LPSNRD) Board of Directors voted today, during an emergency meeting, to allow the City of Lincoln (City) to utilize a former fire station for decontaminating personal protective medical equipment during the COVID-19 outbreak. While meeting via video/teleconference, the board approved a real estate license agreement with the City on a 19-0 vote.

LPSNRD purchased a former fire station from the City earlier this year. Last week the City made an urgent request to now use the building to help control the pandemic. The Board agreed with Chair Larry Ruth that an emergency existed and the emergency meeting was called. Ruth said, “On very short notice we had nearly every director able to remotely join the emergency video conference board meeting. We gave unanimous support to make the former fire station available to the City of Lincoln to fight the pandemic. We’re glad to be able to help.”

All LPSNRD public meetings are being held remotely to help keep directors, staff and the public healthy and to stop the spread of coronavirus, per recommendations by health officials.  A list of scheduled public meetings and how to access them is being maintained at LPSNRD.org, click on About, then News & Events.
