CPNRD to Consider Arboretum Request for New Kearney High School

 

(GRAND ISLAND, NE) The Central Platte Natural Resources District will consider an Outdoor Classroom request from Kearney Public Schools to help create an arboretum at the new Kearney High School, which is scheduled for completion in August 2016.  The arboretum would be used to facilitate learning of conservation practices and biodiversity of the campus and the community.

OTHER ACTION/AGENDA ITEMS:

-Tree Program- The Programs Committee will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of offering Eastern Red Cedar and Locust trees through the Conservation Tree Program.

-NRCS Report- Acting district liaison Brach Johnson of Schuyler and Joe Krolikowski, water management specialist, will report to the board.

-Violations- Luke Zakrzewski, GIS image analyst, will report on violations that took place in 2015.

-Budget- The Water Resources Committee will begin working on the 2017 fiscal budget.

-Go Big Give- Marcia Lee and Kelly Cole will provide information on donating to the Nebraska Children’s Groundwater Festival and the Grand Island Groundwater Guardian’s Outdoor Learning Area as part of Go Big Give from April 26 – May 3rd.

-Other- As may develop prior to the board meeting.

:   The board of directors meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the CPNRD office located at 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island, NE.
