Watershed of Wonders 2020 Cancelled

04/30/2020

TECUMSEH, Nebraska – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Nemaha Natural Resources District (NRD) has announced the cancellation of this year’s Watershed of Wonders day camp. Originally scheduled for June 17 at Duck Creek Recreation Area near Peru, Nebraska, the camp usually hosts up to 100 youth ages 10-12 for a variety of outdoor, natural resources-related activities.

Most activities involve close contact between staff and youth or participation by the youth in group settings. Safety of both the staff and participants in the camp is of utmost importance. NRD officials indicated that because of the uncertainty surrounding group activities into the summer months, the difficult decision was made to cancel this year’s event.

No plans are in place to reschedule this year. Typically, the camp is held only in even numbered years, but it will be rescheduled to June 2021.
