Lower Big Blue NRD Changes Camping Rates

Lower Big Blue NRD Changes Camping Rates

04/30/2021

BEATRICE, Nebraska --  The Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District (NRD) Board of Directors voted to amend electrical camping rates from $10/night to $20/night effective May 1, 2021. Currently, electrical camping pads are available at Willard L. Meyer Recreation Area and Big Indian Recreation Area. Non-electrical camping rates will remain the same at $5/night.

The change was made due to the costs of maintaining the 10 recreation areas within the Lower Big Blue NRD. All camping revenue is used to fund operations and maintenance. Any surplus is invested back into the parks with amenities like new playground equipment, picnic tables, shelters, boat docks, etc.

"The intent of this rate increase is to continue to provide the best possible outdoor experience for our patrons," said Dave Clabaugh, Lower Big Blue NRD general manager. "We hope to see you at one of our recreation areas this summer."

We are excited to announce that the annual Youth Fishing Derby will return to the Willard L. Meyer Recreation area near Tobias on May 22. Families are invited to visit the lake for a fishing contest, archery shoot, Nebraska Game and Parks fishery display, casting contest and lunch provided by the Lower Big Blue NRD, Swan 5 Advisory Council, Big Indian Archers, Beatrice Optimists, and Nebraska Game and Parks.
