HARTINGTON, Nebraska -- The Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD) awarded two Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarships to high school seniors in 2021. The LCNRD provides college scholarship funds to graduates who intend to pursue agricultural related career, in hopes that they will return and contribute to local communities and to the protection and conservation of our natural resources.

The 2021 recipients of the Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Garrett Lange, Wynot Public Schools, Wynot NE. Garrett is the son of Roger and Alison Lange.
  • Haley Klug, Cedar Catholic High School, Hartington NE.  Haley is the daughter of Myron and Heather Klug.

Scholarship recipients are presented a $1,000 scholarship to use toward tuition and fees at the college of their choice toward an agriculture-related course of study.

The Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship is named after two outstanding LCNRD directors, who served their communities and believed in providing educational opportunities to local youth to encourage natural resource awareness. Warren Patefield, Laurel, was a conservation leader on a local, state, and national level until his death in 1985. Ken Green, Allen, was a man of quiet dignity who worked tirelessly, before his passing, on resource projects in the community.
