Lower Platte South Natural Resources District to Fill Board Vacancy

06/18/2015

LINCOLN (NE) June 18, 2015 - The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District is seeking candidates interested in representing the NRD's Subdistrict 6. The NRD Board vacancy was created in June by the death of Doug Samuelson.

A candidate must be a registered voter residing within the subdistrict. Subdistrict 6 includes, generally, a portion of northwest Lincoln from just east of the airport to 27th Street and from West Alvo Road south to Cornhusker Highway. A detailed subdistrict map is available at lpsnrd.org.

Those interested in being considered to fill the vacancy should submit a letter of application and qualifications by July 3rd to:

Board of Directors
Lower Platte South NRD
P O Box 83581
Lincoln, NE 68501-3581

Selected candidates will be interviewed by the Board's Executive Subcommittee, which will then make a recommendation to the full NRD Board. The NRD hopes to fill the vacancy in July. The appointee may run for election to the seat in the 2016 election. The term for the vacant seat expires at the end of 2016.

The NRD Board consists of 21 Directors who serve four-year terms with ten or eleven of the Board seats up for election every two years. Besides holding regular monthly meetings, the Board operates several standing and special subcommittees composed of six to nine directors.
