Platte and Elkhorn River Access Parks Remain Closed

Platte and Elkhorn River Access Parks Remain Closed

06/19/2015

Due to current high water creating extremely dangerous conditions on the Platte and Elkhorn Rivers, all Papio-Missouri River NRD river access sites remain closed. "The river is running high because of recent heavy rainfall and boating and tubing would be extremely perilous," said Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District General Manager John Winkler. Currently both rivers are running at about 2 ft above normal and are unsafe for any recreation activities. "Once the rivers return to near-normal conditions and our sites are operational we will reopen," he said.

No reopening date has been determined.
The closed Elkhorn River access sites include Elkhorn Crossing near 252nd St and Bennington Rd., Graske Crossing off West Dodge Rd and the West Maple Rd. site.
The closed Platte River access site, Platte River Landing, is near Hwy 64 in western Douglas County.
