LINCOLN (NE) June 27, 2017–The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (NRD) is accepting letters of application and qualifications from residents of NRD Subdistrict Nine interested in filling a vacancy on the NRD Board of Directors.  Applicants must also be a registered voter.  The deadline is Friday, July 14th.

The appointee, upon approval by the Board, will serve the remainder of the current term (through December, 2018).  Subdistrict Nine includes a portion of southeast Lincoln, generally between Pioneers Boulevard and Pine Lake Road, 27th Street to 84th.  A map of the subdistrict is available on the NRD website at www.lpsnrd.org.

Subdistrict 9 Director Larry Zimmerman recently resigned from the Board of Directors as he will be moving out of the subdistrict.  The NRD Board, Subdistrict 9 residents, and NRD staff thank Larry for his 14 years of service on the NRD Board.

The NRD Board consists of 21 Directors who serve four-year terms with ten or eleven of the Board seats up for election every two years.  Besides holding regular monthly meetings, the Board operates several standing and special subcommittees composed of six to nine directors.  The NRD administers soil and water conservation programs, flood control projects, ground water management, forestry programs, environmental education, recreational trails, wetlands and wildlife management areas.  The Board sets policy, direction and funding for these activities.  For more information, contact General Manager Paul Zillig at 402-476-2729 or visit LPSNRD.org.  Letters of application and qualifications must be received by Friday, July 14th, at the NRD office, 3125 Portia Street, P.O.
