Central Platte NRD to Hold Public Hearing for 2024 Budget

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska –  A public hearing is scheduled on Thursday, July 27, 2023, for the Central Platte Natural Resources District’s (CPNRD) 2024 Fiscal budget of expenditures. The hearing will be held at 1:45 p.m. just prior to the CPNRD’s Board of Directors monthly meeting. The total proposed budget is $34.9 million with an estimated tax of $4,725,000, which is up $300,000 from the 2023 FY budget. 
A hearing to set the tax request and levy will be scheduled prior to the August 31st board meeting to allow the Board to set the levy at the meeting. The Central Platte NRD’s Board of Directors meetings are held at 2:00 p.m. at the CPNRD Office located at 215 Kaufman Ave in Grand Island.

Additional Agenda Items:

-NESARC Contract  The Board will consider approval of a contract in the amount of $2,500 to renew membership in the National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition.

-Eastern Projects Committee  The Board will consider a change order from JEO Consulting Group for dam repairs in Polk County.

-Manager’s Report  Lyndon Vogt, General Manager, will report.

-Executive Committee  The Executive Committee will report and request approval of the contract for General Manager Lyndon Vogt.

-Natural Resources Conservation Service  Joe Krolikowski, District Conservationist, and Carrie Thompson, Resource Conservationist of Lexington, will provide reports.

-Nebraska Association of Resources District  Deb VanMatre, CPNRD Representative, will report.

-Nebraska Natural Resources Commission  Mick Reynolds, Middle Platte Basin Representative, will report.

-Cost-Share  Applications through the Nebraska Soil and Water Conservation and the Central Platte NRD cost-share programs will be considered.
