Lower Platte South NRD Board Vacancy

LINCOLN (NE) July 20, 2016–The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (NRD) is accepting letters of application and qualifications from registered voters in the northwestern portion of the district interested in filling a vacancy on the NRD Board of Directors.  The deadline to apply to represent the NRD’s Subdistrict One is August 8th.  The appointee, upon approval by the board, will serve the balance of the first half of the current four-year term (through December 2016).

The remaining two years of the term (January 2017 – December 2018) is to be filled by election this fall in the 2016 General Election.  At this point, candidates may petition onto the ballot or run as a write-in candidate and more information is available from county election officials.  Subdistrict One includes Air Park and Yankee Hill neighborhoods in Lincoln and an area west and north of Lincoln, including the towns of Pleasant Dale, Garland, Denton, Raymond, Valparaiso and Brainard.   A map of the subdistrict is available on the NRD website at www.lpsnrd.org.

The NRD administers soil and water conservation programs, flood control, ground water management, environmental education and wildlife management.  The 21-member Board sets policy, direction and funding for these activities.  For more information, phone the NRD office at 402-476-2729 or visit the NRD website.  Letters of application and qualifications to be appointed to fill the vacancy through December 2016 must be received by August 8, 2016 at the NRD office, 3125 Portia Street, P.O. Box 83581, Lincoln, NE 68501-3581.
