Upper Big Blue NRD Forms General Manager Search Committee
YORK, Nebraska – The Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District (UBBNRD) Board of Directors formally appointed a five-member General Manager Search Committee during its regular meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026. This follows the retirement notice from current General Manager David Eigenberg.
Eigenberg plans to retire in December 2026 after serving as the general manager since 2016. Prior to his time with the UBBNRD, Eigenberg worked for the Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission.
“Over the past decade, leading the Upper Big Blue NRD has been a valuable and rewarding experience,” said Eigenberg, “Building a dedicated team united by a shared commitment to responsible natural resources management has been one of my most meaningful accomplishments. It has been especially rewarding to see people working together addressing local concerns and collaborating toward practical solutions.”
“We thank Dave not only for his NRD leadership, but also for his devotion to natural resources in multiple states, and we wish him well in his upcoming retirement,” said Board Chair John Miller.
The board approved Directors Miller, Bill Kuehner, Richard Bohaty, Kendall Siebert, and Lynn Yates to serve on the search committee, and appointed Miller as the committee chair. These directors were selected based on current leadership roles on the Board and experience with previous search committees.
The official announcement for the job opening will come out in early September, with an anticipated closing date at the end of October. Applications submitted during the designated timeframe will be reviewed by the committee after the application period closes. The committee will follow approved minimum-qualification and scoring procedures, select the interview pool, conduct interviews, and recommend one or more candidates to the full Board for consideration. The final selection and employment authorization will remain with the full Board.
