Central Platte NRD to Hold Public Hearing to Set Property Tax Request
GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska – The Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) Board of Directors will hold a public hearing to set the property tax request and levy on September 3, 2026, during the regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Note: The August board meeting was moved to allow time for the required public notices. The Board approved the 2026/2027 fiscal year budget of $26,278,764,079, a decrease from last year’s budget of $31,799,740.74 at their July Board meeting. The budget includes proposed expenditures, liabilities, necessary cash reserves, and county treasurer commissions. Based on current balances and projected revenues, the required property tax request is unchanged at $5,347,828.91, a decrease of $5.40 from last year.
The August board meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the CPNRD office, 215 Kaufman Avenue in Grand Island.

Precision Conservation Management Program
Darren Cudaback, Precision Conservation Specialist, will present on the Precision Conservation Program which currently includes 83 cooperators in the Gothenburg area, covering a total of 141,907 acres. The program has a 100% retention rate.
Building Committee
The Building Committee will review the progress of the NRD’s new office and education center construction.
Water Quality Committee
The Water Quality Committee will discuss the Nitrogen Management Certification Program and the One Red Program.
Perkins County Canal
The Board will consider approval of the Joint Defense Common Interest Agreement regarding the Perkins County Canal.
Voting Delegate and Alternate
The Board will select a voting delegate and alternate for the Nebraska Association of Resources District’s Annual Conference to be held September 28-29 in Kearney, NE.
