Lower Platte South NRD Finalizes Tax Levy

Lower Platte South NRD Finalizes Tax Levy

09/22/2023

LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (LPSNRD) board of directors met Wednesday and approved the property tax levy for the Fiscal Year 2024. The levy decreased 13% from the previous year and is set at $0.023 per $100 of assessed evaluation.

The property tax request of $10,514,822 is a 4% increase from Fiscal Year 2023.

The taxes levied support LPSNRD’s continued priority of protecting constituents against flood threats. The budget allocates significant funding for the Deadmans Run Flood Reduction Project, the Salt Creek Levee System, and continued maintenance and flood control dams on other waterways. These efforts provide flood protection across the district.

The LPSNRD budget also begins laying groundwork for projects in the future to strengthen flood protection efforts, including planning elements of Salt Creek resiliency. The LPSNRD, in partnership with the City of Lincoln, is evaluating the impact of measures in the Upper Salt Creek Watershed to flooding in Lincoln.

The action to approve the levy finalizes the LPSNRD’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget process which has taken public input since May.
