Lower Big Blue NRD Accepting Conservation Tree Orders
Lower Big Blue NRD Accepting Conservation Tree Orders
BEATRICE, Nebraska -- As of Nov. 1, the Lower Big Blue NRD is accepting conservation tree orders. This year, Lower Big Blue NRD will offer six species of evergreens, 17 deciduous species and 14 types of shrubs. Trees must be ordered in multiples of 25 and are sold for $1.50 each. The Lower Big Blue NRD also offers machine planting for an additional fee.
Conservation trees provide immense benefits to people, wildlife, and the environment. They offer shade, shelter homes, reduce soil erosion, protect crops and livestock, support wildlife by providing food and cover, buffer noise, and add beauty to the landscape.
As windbreaks mature, NRD foresters recommend landowners consider rehabilitating old windbreaks or planning new plantings. The NRD Conservation Tree Program provides an affordable way for landowners to safeguard their property. NRD staff and foresters collaborate with landowners to choose the best tree species, create planting plans, and, in many cases, even handle the planting.
Popular tree species sell out quickly, so don’t miss the opportunity to order early for the best selection. Order forms are available at the Lower Big Blue NRD office or online at www.lbbnrd.net. Payment is due at the time of your order. If you have any questions on the 2026 conservation tree program, call the Lower Big Blue NRD at 402-228-3402.
