11/14/2025

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska – The Central Platte and Tri-Basin Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) invite landowners to stop by their booth at the Gateway Farm Expo, held Nov. 19-20, at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney. Visitors can enter to win 100 conservation tree seedlings and learn more about NRD programs and services.

The Central Platte NRD is now also accepting orders for conservation tree seedlings for spring planting through April 1, 2026. Landowners who place their orders by Dec. 31,2025, will receive a 10% discount on trees, weed barrier and planting services.

Conservation seedlings are sold in bundles of 25 per species for $31.25, with 50% cost-share available for trees and weed barrier (minimum order of 200 trees required for cost-share eligibility). Central Platte NRD offers 34 species of deciduous trees, conifers and shrubs. Trees are delivered to the Central Platte NRD office in Grand Island, stored in a climate-controlled cooler, and are typically ready for pickup by mid-April at either the NRD office or a local NRCS office. Central Platte NRD’s tree program also offers a tree planting service, fabric weed barrier and weed barrier installation. Early ordering is encouraged to receive the 10% discount and secure your preferred species.

Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts have partnered with landowners to plant more than 102 million trees across the state. The Central Platte NRD has distributed 3,950,612 conservation trees since 1972 and installed 633 miles of weed barrier since 1991 for conservation and habitat improvement.
