Lower Platte North NRD Announces Lakeside Learning Series

Lower Platte North NRD Announces Lakeside Learning Series

03/09/2021

WAHOO, Nebraska -- Spring is just around the corner and for some that means it is time to start preparing for planting flowerbeds and gardens.

On Thursday, April 1, the Lower Platte North Natural Resources District (LPNNRD) will offer a new educational event at the Lake Wanahoo Education Building. The first “Coffee, Lakeside” event will feature Kathleen Cue, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dodge County Extension Educator and Master Gardener Program Coordinator. Bring your questions for your lawn, tree, vegetable garden, orchard or flower garden and we will problem solve together.

This series of educational events will be held on the first Thursday of every month at 9 a.m.

“Learning doesn’t stop when you finish school, so I want ‘Coffee, Lakeside’ to be an opportunity for people of all ages to continue to learn,” says Sydney Abbott, LPNNRD education coordinator. Sydney explained that she sees these events to be fun and educational, and for those attending to feel comfortable engaging in conversations surrounding the topic.

Upcoming events will feature topics of Nebraska birds, fish, prairie grasses and wildflowers. Activities will also be available for kids in attendance. The free event will offer coffee and doughnuts provided by the LPNNRD.

Sydney added, “if nothing else, come enjoy a wonderful view, local coffee and donuts, and just maybe you’ll learn something new!”
