Elkhorn River Access Sites Closed Through Labor Day Weekend

Due to high water in the Elkhorn River creating extremely dangerous boating conditions, all Papio-Missouri River NRD Elkhorn River access sites in Douglas County will be closed through the upcoming Labor Day weekend.   “We are hoping for a reopening on Tuesday, September 2nd if the river returns to near-normal conditions,” said John Winkler, Papio-Missouri River NRD General Manager. The NRD’s Platte River Landing access site near NE Highway 64 in western Douglas County remains open.

The closed Elkhorn River access sites include Elkhorn Crossing, Graske Crossing and the NRD’s W. Maple Road site.
