LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (NRD) Board of Directors met Jan. 21, 2026, and took action on a range of items supporting the district’s financial stewardship, conservation efforts, legislative engagement, and board leadership.

Financial Report Approved
The Board approved the December 2025 financial reports, reflecting the District’s continued commitment to transparent and responsible management of public funds. The reports included a review of revenues and expenditures, budget-to-actual comparisons for the current fiscal year, and account balances across district programs and operations.

Preliminary Legislative Positions Set for 2026 Session
Following a majority recommendations from the Executive Subcommittee, the Lower Platte South NRD Board of Directors reviewed and approved preliminary positions on legislative bills and constitutional amendments introduced during the 2026 Nebraska Legislative Session. Final legislative positions will be considered at a future Board meeting.

Conservation Cost-Share Applications Approved
The Board approved two surface water quality best management practices cost-share applications through the District’s Fall Conservation Program, totaling $24,585. Both projects are located in the western portion of the District, with one situated in the Salt Valley Lakes–Pawnee Lake watershed targeted area.

The approved projects will support practices designed to reduce sediment and nutrient runoff, helping protect surface water resources while supporting agricultural productivity.

2026 Officers Nominated
The Board also accepted the report of the Ad-Hoc Nominating Subcommittee and approved the slate of officers for 2026. The following Directors were nominated and elected to serve in leadership roles for the calendar year:

• Secretary: Christine Lamberty
• NARD Representative: John Yoakum
• NARD Alternate: Gary Hellerich

District leadership thanked board members for their willingness to serve and support the mission of the District.

The next regular board meeting will be Feb. 18, 2026, at the Lower Platte South NRD office in Lincoln.
