Middle Republican NRD hosts Southwest Land Judging

10/19/2023

CURTIS, Nebraska -- The Middle Republican NRD hosted the Southwest Region Land Judging contest in Curtis, Nebraska, Wednesday, Oct. 4. There were 13 schools present with 225 students in attendance. The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) provided the field for the contest and BSB Construction Inc. donated the operator and equipment to dig the pits and refill them after the contest was completed. Volunteers from U.S. Department of Agriculture's NRCS, Tri-Basin NRD and Twin Platte NRD helped conduct the contest.

New for this year's contest was the use of the ScanTron machine to calculate the scoring of each score card. The ScanTron scoring machines will be used among the NRD’s in each region going forward. The NRD’s in each region are on a three-year rotation of being host of the contest.

Results for both Team and Individual scores can be found on https://www.nrdnet.org/nebraska-land-judging-soil-evaluation. Congratulations to all the teams and students who participated.
